Hypnosis for happiness is in the news!

A kind of skeptical friend of mine shared this with me yesterday.
I told her I have been thinking about doing a happiness workshop for a while. She then asked me if I had statistics to show that hypnosis works for happiness.

I did a quick google search and I can find statistics on weight loss and smoking cessation hypnosis for other statistics are harder to find. I can probably look hard and find hypnotherapists who have been in practice for years and who keep track of success rates. I am sure I can find articles and studies showing how hypnosis changes moods. I am sure of all that but that wasn’t my answer.

My answer is this: Hypnosis has been used for over 130 years. It stays around because it does work. As for happiness, think about this. Hypnosis ans meditation work the same way and are very similar. People who meditate a lot are some of the happiest people on Earth.

I always want to be clear, hypnosis can help with countless issues but it is NOT a substitute for medical treatment of serious issues. People who have been diagnosed with depression or other mental illnesses can benefit from hypnosis with approval of their doctor but you should never quit taking medication cold turkey.

That being said, the majority of adults in this day and age experience some unhappiness at some point in their life. It might be weather related (come on spring!), feeling stuck in a career or relationship, comparing yourself to others, or not feeling like you are where you want to be in life. Hypnosis can be amazing for helping you live a happier life.

When you feel unhappy, changing things can be next to impossible. Sometimes the unhappiness makes you stuck and you just accept the way life is and in turn, you become more unhappy. Hypnosis can get you to a level of happiness where you can start making changes that will lead you to happiness. Hypnosis can also help you be happy where you are if you don’t want to make changes.
