A State of Mind

Hypnosis can help you change habits you might have but there is so much more that hypnosis can help with.

Our first conversation will be figuring out what is going on in your mind.  Sometimes people don’t even know until we start discussing it.

Even when you know exactly what the problem is, you might not realize that you can change it.  Let’s take height for example.  Maybe you are on the shorter side and you really resent it.  Maybe it interferes with your life almost every day.  Well. hypnosis won’t make you grow.  Sorry. However, though hypnosis, I can help you accept your height and feel good about it. It is all a state of mind.

I am often asked to explain hypnosis. In the simplest terms I often say it’s the reprogramming of your self talk. To add a little more, imagine a situation that makes you uncomfortable. For our discussion, let’s use a fear of public speaking. When you get asked a question in a group setting, your body automatically starts to respond. Perhaps your heart starts beating faster and your mouth gets dry. Perhaps public speaking can lead to panic attacks but that doesn’t happen right away. Hypnosis can help your body change the first symptoms you experience. Sometimes we use things called post hypnotic suggests, these are methods that you use during your daily life to help bring back your hypnosis session. So you are asked a question in front of a group, suddenly you might think of a color. Perhaps during the hypnosis session we discussed feeling calm and at peace every time you think of or see the color purple. So instead of your mind telling your heart to race and your mouth to go dry, suddenly you are thinking of the color purple. Your will feel more confident and able to answer the question without the anxiety.

Whatever we might be working on, and however we get there, it is all a state of mind. It is truly amazing how much the mind can control when we don’t even realize it.
