The question many hypnotherapists get asked most is, can anyone be hypnotized? I don’t think there is a yes or no answer to this question. One main factor is how the hypnotherapist relates with the client. I have two daughters, 11 and 13. My 11 year old can be very…strong willed shall we say? She doesn’t respond well to being asked or told to do things. I don’t usually hypnotize her because I know I can’t. The other day I decided to do a depth test on my oldest. I had my 11 year old join as so she wouldn’t feel left out. Sure enough, she wasn’t even a level 1. When I was done, she said “I want to be hypnotized, find a different spell!” Of course, this made me laugh. Hypnotherapy is not at all magic. Even if it was, she doesn’t need a different “spell” she needs a different hypnotherapist.
I don’t think she isn’t able to be hypnotized. I believe she needs a to have a hypnotherapist that isn’t me. It is really important that you feel comfortable with your hypnotherapist. Not that my daughter doesn’t feel comfortable with me, it’s that her first reaction is to say no to me. There might be a time in the future when I can hypnotize her but I won’t hold my breath.
